My Classical Chinese reading group is reading Xi you ji. This has been translated into English many times under many names, but most commonly as Journey to the West and Monkey. It's a very famous story. It's so famous, in fact, that the Japanese have made two tv series, two movies, and one anime about it. The most ridiculous of these is the one from a good thirty years ago which has been dubbed over into English and given the fabulous name of Monkey Magic!
I urge you to watch this clip of the beginning. The tale of monkey's birth is followed by a great theme song. Then, you should watch the entire first episode on youtube. The fight scenes and flying on clouds scenes are everything you could hope for from a movie about a magical monkey.
