It’s Winter Break, and for the second school vacation in a row, I am being kicked out of my house so the landlord can fix it up. I don’t really mind this, because it keeps me from sleeping late, watching too much tv, and grazing through the junk food in my house.
Instead, I’ve made a list of all the great things I can do in Bloomington without a car:
1. Sit in the bagel shop and listen to other people’s conversations.
2. Eat in at least three of the restaurants on 4th street.
3. Find out what the Wonderlab is, and go there.
4. Browse the little kids books in the library.
5. Bike from one side of the city to the other.
6. Get my ear pierced again, maybe.
7. Play lots of indoor ultimate.
8. Write Christmas cards and send them before Christmas.
9. Call all of the people in my address book and annoy them.
10. Ride around the entire bus system and make friends with all the bus drivers.
Some of these I’ve already gotten a good start on, as I’m sitting in the bagel shop right now. The woman next to me seems to know every other person who walks in the door. Are there bagel shop regulars like there are coffee shop regulars?
