Usually the weather gets really cold, and then the water mains break. In my neighborhood, the water main broke yesterday, and we woke up with snow on the ground this morning.
I think a big difference between a small town and a big city is the dissemination of information. In Fort Wayne, a water main break would warrent a spot on the evening news and a boil water advisory. Bloomington apparently does not even have evening news, and when Deb went out to ask one of the workers if we should boil our brown water, he had no idea. Neither did the woman who answered the phone at Bloomington Utilities.
At least we still have water. And it must be good enough to drink, because the cat’s still lapping it up from out of the toilet.
