high society in the library
She walked into the library lobby carrying a book, a large purse, and a paper Coca-Cola cup. She set the cup and book down carefully on a table and placed her purse on the neighboring chair. She opened the book to a designated page and stood looking at it thoughtfully. Then she opened her purse and proceeded to set up her make-up supplies on top of the open book. She applied her lipstick while standing, but sat down to powder her cheeks and nose. When she was finished, she returned her make-up to her purse and took a long sip of her Coke. As she finally began reading, she slid her red nail polished finger along each line of text, silently mouthing the words. Five minutes later she closed the book, reapplied her lipstick, and left to the accompanying clump clump clump of her high heeled shoes.
