I love my Classical/Literary Chinese class. My professor says things like, “[Cell phones ringing when they shouldn’t] is the modern-day flatulence.” In addition we read the most random texts, for instance, a mortuary document for the great fighter cricket True Blue. An excerpt:
“This insect had a blue-green head with white stripes and a blue neck. His body was completely iridescent. His mandibles like great jade pillars glimmered dazzling and brilliant…Of his many opponents this year, all gave up their heads…His mouth was quick like lightning. Wherever he went, he was without enemies. With bravery, he took the crown three times. He was a very marvelous insect.”
