apology accepted

This weekend is the Little 500 bike race. This means that some people have been partying since Thursday night and they will continue until Sunday. Those who live near campus cannot avoid endless hours of screaming, corn hole, football in the street, and general drunkenness. My house, luckily, is far enough away that we only hear the hum of parties a few blocks away. However, this doesn’t mean we don’t get our share of wandering party-goers.

I had just gone to bed last night when I heard some people walking down the sidewalk toward my house. Suddenly there was the sound of someone running into a bush, or rather, running into my hedge. Then I hear the following:

“I’m peeing in someone’s yard.”
“I”m peeing in someone’s yard, too.”
“I’m sorry I’m peeing in your yard, people!”
“I’m not.”
“I’m really sorry we’re peeing in your yard!”

I was tempted to shout something back, but sometimes it is best to leave peeing drunks alone, even when they’re peeing in your yard.
