summer of ultimate

I estimate that in the eight years I have played Ultimate, I have attended 42 tournaments. This number is about to dramatically increase, as this summer has been decreed

THE SUMMER OF ULTIMATE

Our current schedule includes 15 tournaments from May through September in seven different states. If we know a team going, we weasel our way onto it. If we don’t, we tout ourselves as the best ultimate couple on the circuit and hope people pick us up.

That’s what we did this weekend at the Kansas City Mayfest. We picked up with a Springfield, Missouri team with lots of skill and good spirit. Including me we had three women for a four men/three women tournament, so we women played the entire time with no subs. I am getting in shape rather quickly.

After a productive day of two wins and one loss, Sam, me and another pickup Brian went to watch the KC pro soccer team, the Wizards, lose to the Dallas Red Stripes. We followed this up with the party at a local bar and then went back to the hotel for a good nights’ sleep on the floor.

Sunday we won our first game, but lost the semifinals due to being really tired. Oh well. Good times with the Spring Rolls.

And on to the next tournament!
