the best seat in the house
When I was little, my family used to go to the local collage campus with all the other thousands of families in Fort Wayne to watch the Fourth of July fireworks. When I went to college, I watched the Boston Pops perform at the Hatch Shell. While in Japan, a bunch of us ex-pats would get together and set off fireworks by the river. This year, Sam and I went to the overpass down the road, which happens to be the highest point in Springfield. From there, we and about four other families who had stopped their cars on the top of the bridge leisurely viewed three different fireworks displays without the bother of crowds, cops, or masses of annoying screaming children.
