a slippery slope

While most of the midwest was hit with a foot or so of snow, yesterday I woke up to school closings caused by ice. It didn't seem too bad until my bus slid through a stop sign. The worst of it, however, was when my roommate dropped me off at frisbee last night. We missed the first entrance, and so we went around the back. Doing so meant driving up a steep hill.

We got halfway up and started slipping. The brakes and steering wheel were no help as we slid backwards down the hill. We hit the curb, which stopped the back wheels enough, but let the front ones continue along, turning us sideways. After a little while the car righted itself and we continued sliding down the hill in a forward-facing position. Luckily, some drifting snow stopped us before a light pole did.

And then my team won our game.
