This weekend was the ever wonderful Mad-disc-on Ultimate tournament in Madison, Wisconsin. My team, the Madtown Boozehounds, was seeded last for the tournament, but thanks to some awesome pickups from Marquette, we finished in 7th place out of 12. Thankfully, the weather was not 95 degrees as predicted, but a lovely 82 with a few clouds. We played hard and enjoyed an evening at the Essen Haus, the home of the 2 liter glass boot filled with beer.
It's a good thing the weekend was nice, because I had a ridiculous time getting to Madison on the Greyhound. I had to go to Bloomington on Thursday to clean my house out because the lease was ending, and then I planned to take the bus up to Madison on Friday. I don't know how, but the bus driver got lost on his way to Chicago. First, he got off the highway in Gary, where we drove around the block for about 20 minutes before getting back on the highway at the same exit. Then, we got to Chicago where he again got off at the wrong exit and had us driving around the University of Illinois campus for about 15 minutes before figuring out how to get to the Chicago bus station. Let's just say that I missed my connection, and so did about half the other people on the bus. A few were very not happy and quite vocal about it. When the bus was finally unloading, one of the passengers even started to pick a fight with the driver.
I really wish I could find some reliable public transportation in this country.
