success!
At the end of July, after I'd finished my thesis, I edited it and cut it down to submit as a conference paper. It was incredibly difficult to "destroy" the beautiful thing I had written, but it seems to have paid off. I will be presenting a shortened version of my thesis, "The Goryo Unit: Genji, the Kiritsubo Emperor, and the Vengeful Spirit Paradigm in the Tale of Genji," at the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs in October in Minnesota. You can come along to keep me company, or I can send you a copy of my paper. It's so very interesting. I promise.

Um, yeah, very interesting conference paper...I have a few of those...right next to very intersting telephone books ;)
I am a Genji aficionado and would love to receive a copy of your paper since I won't be able to be at the conference. I am not a scholar, just someone who reads about Genji as a hobby (of course I've read teh book, too!). Send to eb@eberlinmedia.com
I want to go to Minnesota! Give me more details about dates, etc. Would LOVE to come out and see you. And now that I don't have a job to tie me down, maybe I can -- if I can afford the ticket.
Sounds great! Congratulation!
Send me it too, please~~~~.
