patterns and prints

We had some friends over the other night for dinner and drinks. Afterward, we were hanging out on the porch when Nancy discovered this fabric on one of the quilts we use to cover the couches.

And we wondered, what made Sam's great-great-aunt use fabric featuring an arrow-riddled buffalo? That poor buffalo is jabbed with arrows and standing right between two prickly cacti. Not too happy sounding.

Somehow, that quilt is no longer quite as comforting.

That looks more like a bull than a buffalo to me. I think it ties in with the Mexican/Spanish theme of the rest of the print. Bull fighting, and when they poke the bull with the small decorated spear things. But that's just my 2 pesos.
