Never read the book The Private Life of Spiders and then go down in your dark, cobweb-filled basement. Despite just reading how benign most spiders are, you'll think this or this is just waiting for you in a corner.
Also, don't follow up this adventure with David Sedaris' chapter "April in Paris" in his new book When You Are Engulfed in Flames. It will make you want to go back down to the basement with a jar full of freshly caught flies to give to the beautiful spiders inhabiting the window sills.
