success, kindof

It was anticlimactic.  Being the first panel of the day meant that everyone was at lunch, and we had a total of six audience members, not including parents.  One of them fell asleep at one point.

This meant that although I can now say I have presented at a conference, I did not get any feedback, any questions, or any real sense of accomplishment from the whole thing.  All I got was a few lines on my resume.

On the upside, I got to spend the evening walking around Northfield, Minnesota and the St. Olaf campus.  Things of mention:

1.  Malt-O-Meal is made here.  They must also make chocolate chip cookies, because the smell was wafting from the factory and all around town and campus while I was walking around.
2. There is a really cool wind chime tower on St. Olaf's campus.  When the wind blows, the deep sound of about 100 wind chimes fills the air.  It is lovely.
3.  There's a windmill (the energy producing kind) just behind St. Olaf.  It looks like one of the science buildings has wings.
4.  The Contented Cow is one of the more popular local pubs in town.  Before 10pm it seems to be the favorite of the over 50 intellectual crowd.
5.  I walked AT LEAST 8 miles today in order to avoid paying for a taxi.  Go me.
