wine list

Several months ago, I harvested some mulberries from the tree in my back yard and made some wine with them. Since that time, I have made four more batches of fruit wine. The fruit comes entirely from local sources - the farmer's market, my backyard, and some obliging trees on campus. Here's what I have so far:

1. Mulberry: very full and sweet.
2. Black Raspberry: light and sweet. "Kinda tastes like wine cooler."
3. Asian Pear: light and dry. "Kinda tastes like sake."
4. Peach: {just bottled, yet to be sampled}
5. Mixed Fruit (apple, dwarf peach, concord grape): {still fermenting}

This weekend and the next I am going to start two more batches.

6. Apple
7. Persimmon

As Sam reminds me, these wines are made to be poured and shared, not to sit beautifully on a shelf in my kitchen, as the first few batches did for quite some time. Toward that, I have tried to start collecting some smaller bottles into which I can put some samples of my wines to give as presents.

If you or anyone you know should get any of my wine, just keep this in mind: My aim is not to make high-class, or even middle-class wine. I just want to enjoy making it and get a product that is drinkable. So far, I am happily succeeding.

very cool! I've always wanted to try making my own wine. You'll have to give me some pointers.
