So, I've gotten desperate. Despite putting out on average four applications per week (this week: Target, University of Minnesota, grocery store (again)), I have no job. Yesterday, I took my brother's advice and signed up to be a question-answerer at ChaCha. (I also signed up for KGB, a similar service, but they told me they are full right now.) ChaCha and KGB are services whereby you ask a question and a real person finds the answer for you. Somewhere in their literature, ChaCha likened their employees to "reference librarians" which I am sure made quite a few reference librarians unhappy.
ChaCha pays "$3 to $9 an hour" depending on how fast you answer questions and how difficult they are. But in order to start, I have to go to Search University, their little training course on how to answer questions. I plan on doing that tomorrow. So maybe on Friday I will sit for hours in front of my computer, and get paid for it. We'll see how it goes.

How does ChaCha make a profit? It can't be from advertising alone like normal search engines... right?
I have no idea.
