employment terminated
My temporary employer ran out of money to keep me, so I am once again unemployed. Going back to "free" days was more difficult than I remembered; all of a sudden I had to structure my time again. I have several lists in several different places, most of which were never completed. I am not always a good manager of time, especially when the library has so many good books for me to read.
poultry days
Every year Sam and I go to Poultry Days, a big Ultimate tournament in Versailles, Ohio. We stop for a few days at Sam's parents' house along the way, making it a week-long affair. This year we were once again treated to his mom's wonderful pasta salad and oatmeal cookies.
strawberry fields
There's a u-pick strawberry farm about a half an hour from La Crosse, and I convinced Sam that we needed to go gather our own fruits. Somehow, we went overboard and picked sixteen pounds. The price was cheap, but I spent several hours cleaning and cutting everything up, so maybe they were expensive after all. I froze several quarts and made strawberry wine and strawberry scones. Tonight there will be shortcake!
trip prep
Sam and I are going to the Pacific Northwest next week. We've got two tournaments and a wedding to attend, plus some hiking. We're making it a road trip, complete with camping in the truck, random roadside stops, and a general lack of specific planning. It should be quite fun. But there's still laundry to do, a truck to clean, and figuring out how to pack clothes for ultimate, hiking, hot weather, cool rain, and a wedding.
