lake and dunes
We drove up the east coast of Lake Michigan and had the dunes all to ourselves one stormy morning. The last time I was at the dunes I was much smaller, and I therefore remember them being much more imposing. The hike that took all afternoon when I was ten took us about thirty minutes, and we were being leisurely.
The afternoon brightened up, and the drive along the coast was picturesque. We stopped by a few small towns and took in the view of the lake from parks, piers, and picnic stops.
