Just down the street from my house is Upland Brewery, a microbrewery and brewpub. I have always been a fan of their beer, and lately I am becoming more and more a fan of their food.
Take, for instance, this menu item - Elk Meat Loaf. Just on sheer uniqueness, I tried it and was very satisfied. In addition to the special venison on the menu, Upland offers the option of beef, buffalo, or black bean patties for their burgers and many seitan substitutions for their chicken and pork dishes.
Not only can vegetarians be happily fulfilled here, environmentally-minded folks will be thrilled to know that the discarded hops and barley used in the beer-brewing process are sent just outside town to feed the buffalo Upland serves for its burgers.
If anyone ever visits me in town, this is where I take them. Why not, when the the beer is great and menu delicious?
