I used to spend a whole five minutes a week on Facebook. Now I'm on constantly, and it is the fault of Scrabulous, a Scrabble game application. I am currently playing six games; Sam is playing nine.
The thing about online scrabble is the accessibility of options to cheat. My favorite is wineverygame.com. Just type in your letters and it tells you all the words you could make, including many words you have never seen before.
I typically cheat if:
1. I'm losing by more than thirty points.
2. The other player is obviously also cheating.
3. I'm tired.
Sam says that playing a word about which you are uncertain and then getting the "Invalid word" message is half cheating, since you get to try again and again any possible combinations of letters until you find something random to play. I disagree, and do this all the time. It's just like using a dictionary to check what you think may be possible, and then finding out you are wrong.
In any case, I spend way too much time playing scrabble now. But if you're on Facebook and invite me to a game, I will not say no.

Using a dictionary to see what is possible is not allowed in Scrabble.
It is definitely cheating.
Speaking of scrabble for cheaters, you can play for charity:
Scrabble for cheaters
Scrabulous is not Scrabble!
