all shapes and sizes

My grandmother is a fantastic baker. Cookies, pies, cakes, french breakfast puffs… She used to collect cookie cutters so that she could make cookies for every conceivable occasion of the year. Her collection grew to over one hundred as we grandchildren presented her with new ones we would find on our travels.

Sadly, arthritis means that Grandma can no longer bake, and so she gave her cookie cutters to my cousin and me to split among us. We found that there were approximately ten different birds, five different dogs, seven different gingerbread men, and a variety of animals, objects, and geometric shapes. My favorites were:

groundhog
mitten
hammer
the state of Indiana
ice cream cone
the United States
rhinoceros
fire hydrant
robot
foot

I can’t wait until the next time I make cookies.
