in my neighborhood

Every day I sit pretty much all day on my porch and write my thesis. (It's going well, so far.) In doing so, I have managed to learn a lot about my neighborhood in a short time. For example, today is a half day at school. It's 11:30am and parents and kids are walking and biking past the front of my house. The school bus that doesn't let a kid off until the parent comes up to the door has been honking for five minutes. It seems like some parent forgot about the half day.

Yesterday, some kids were walking home on the sidewalk across the street. One of them leaned down, picked something up, and threw it at my house. Luckily, he didn't have good aim and it landed in the yard. Then he did it again. That one got pretty close to the front door. I don't know what I would have done if he'd busted through my screens with what turned out to be apples, but I would not have been happy.
