scarborough fair

Sam and I took a quick trip home to Indiana this weekend. We both ended up helping our respective parents do some fall cleaning, and we both came home with a few odds and ends our parents no longer wanted.

In addition to those random items, we also came home with a decent haul of freshly picked herbs from Sam's mom's garden. I've set them out to dry and we will be enjoying the following flavors in our food for the next several months, I hope.

Rosemary
Basil
Sage
Greek Oregano
Italian Oregano
Parsley
Tumeric
Lemon Thyme

To that, I will add some of our own mint, lemon basil, and lemon balm.

As I set out my herbs to dry, I kept picturing in my mind the scene from A&E's Pride and Prejudice wherein Mary and Jane are hanging up herbs and flowers to dry while chatting about Mr. Bingley's return to the countryside. Someday, I'll have a similar summer kitchen in which to dry herbs and can vegetables. You are all invited to come over and gossip as we put up the tomatoes.
