saint pat and old saint nick

Today is the Saturday closest to St. Patrick's Day, so today is the day for the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in La Crosse. Sam and I took our chairs out to Main Street and sat down with a few hundred children, parents, and dogs waiting for the free candy handouts.

As far as parades go, it was a small-town version. Most of the paraders were just people associated with particular groups (Rotary Club, American Legion, Irishfest organizers, etc.) walking down the street wearing green clothing.

Then there was this guy.

Is he St. Patrick? There had already been a Catholic looking old guy at the beginning of the parade.

Is he Santa Claus? Santa usually wears red, unless he's getting into the spirit of the day...

Why is he pointing so menacingly at the parade-goers? I don't know, but since he was one of the only characters on a float, I'd vote for him as the winner of the Parade.

Definitely green santa: he's riding in a sleigh! And he's pointing menacingly and growling, "Naughty! Naughty! Naughty!"

That's fantastic. Maybe he's the spawn of a leprechaun and a giant.
