green river

Riverside Park is a nice place to go for a stroll on an autumn afternoon. You can gaze across the mighty Mississippi, or laugh at the ducks playing near the shore. The wooden docks along the promenade are still set up for the few boats that brave the fall winds, and Sam and I went down to view the water up close. What we found was a perfect layer of algae covering the water between the dock and the river wall. It was so dense that leaves, bugs, and small twigs could rest on top of it.
