Today was the first day of La Crosse's Oktoberfest, which someone told me is second in size only to Munich's Oktoberfest. I missed the opening parade, but made it down to the fest grounds in time for the Tapping of the Golden Keg.
The tapping itself is not that impressive, but the people who line up to drink the special Fest Bier are well worth watching. I spent all afternoon admiring dirndl, lederhosen, and a wide-variety of specially made drinking shirts. Of course, I enjoyed a few Oktoberfest beverages as well.
