meet and greet

Meet our new dog!  We adopted her from the Humane Shelter yesterday, and she's already keeping us very busy.  She is a 2-year-old black lab who loves to fetch.  Right now she specializes in tennis balls, but we'll see about adding discs to her repertoire.  But first, we'll spend the next few weeks getting in the rhythm of walkings and feedings and poopings, and before long she'll be all settled and used to us as well!

Our dog came with the name Claire, but we're working on learning her personality so we can find a name we like a little better.  Any suggestions?  I want something either Ultimate, beer, or Japanese-related, but we're leaning away from people names and toward a maximum of two syllables.  Sam says I'm making it too complicated.  His suggestion: Mildred, shortened to Millie.  I have a day or two to find an alternative, or Millie it is. (I make exceptions for older, less popular people names.)

My parents' first dog looked a lot like that dog! They used to like to name dogs are Japanese train stations. The first dog's name was Shibby, short for Shibuya. It was the station where they would meet to visit each other while they were there as students. My dad wanted to name a later dog we had after a station called (sp? sorry) Takadanababa, and call the dog Taka for short.

But Millie would be easier for new people. :)

I like Millie! She's cute. Remember- 1/2 hour after feeding is pooping time. Regulate feeding and pooping time is regulated too.

Don't see how you could name her anything but Norakuro...
Nora for short...
