Gingerbread ladies
Every year when I was growing up, my Grandma Meyer would make lebkuchen. Oftentimes, I would join her. Grandma had over 100 cookie cutters and we would spend the entire day cutting out holiday and non-holiday related cookies and meticulously decorating each and every one.
Grandma can't make lebkuchen anymore, so it is up to her children and grandchildren to continue the tradition. I made a batch this weekend; some went to a beer tasting to be paired with a Belgian dark ale, some will go to a potluck tomorrow, and some Sam and I will eat.
I haven't yet set up a tree or anything Christmas-y, but with lebkuchen in the house, it seems like the holidays are really here.
