snap, crackle, pop

The strong storms last night blew down all of these seeds from the neighborhood trees.  As people walk on the sidewalk, they are now accompanied by a scattering of little popping noises that indicate the crushing of the seeds.  Millie is startled each time someone passes by our house and creates this intriguing sound.  It reminds me of the Fourth of July snappers that kids love to throw on the ground.
